Remembering Regina

Regina was blessed with that beautiful, slow, southern, drawl so when she was a child I would engage her in conversation any way I could just to hear her talk. One night she was helping me with supper and I was bombarding her with questions to keep her talking. Finally she propped her little hands on hers hips, gave me a cold stare and said, “Gale you are telling me too may questions”.

Another time we had been watching the Friday Night Frights when we realized we were getting cold as our house was heated by wood and the fire was getting low. It was necessary to go outside for more wood. Well we both went to the woodpile and picked up as much wood as we could carry and started back to the house when a screech owl gave a long and loud call. Regina's armload of wood went one way and Regina went the other and she beat me to the hose by a hundred steps. When I was back in the house Regina said, “I don't have no wood I had to throw it at that booger so he wouldn't get you, worked didn't it”.

Once when I was facing surgery I was really concerned and expressed my concern to Regina.  In that long slow drawl Regina said, "Ahh don't worry it'll be okay.  I've always heard that anthesia kills a lot more people than surgery".

Regina was a very special person and her loss has broken many hearts.
