The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of William Sanford can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

My Encounters with Bill

As I remember Bill, it is easy to remember our walks together, or our long discussions about life, or perhaps his patient listening and understanding when I described to him the struggles my Mother was having with battling ovarian cancer.  He was very philosophical, and I am sure that he realized that my Mother's pathway would someday be his as well.

But what I will also remember was the opportunity and the honor that I had to serve the Sanford family in a time of need.  It was an awkward scenario which was quickly diffused by the flash of Bill's grin and his incredible sense of humor.  I was immediately put at ease by his manner, and had fun joking with him.  Even through the haze of morphine, he kept up quite well with his funny quips.  Finally, the opportunity to grip his hand and know that he recognized me as we said goodbye was very memorable for me.

God works in mysterious ways, and I believe I know where Bill's soul will reside.  I hope he looks up my Mom when he gets settled in.  They both loved people, showed a genuine interest in people, were dedicated to their family, and they were both very gutsy patients.  They will have a lot to talk about!

The Peace of the Lord be always with you Carolyn
