William Turner Poor, age 92, of Holly Springs, GA passed away Thursday, January 25, 2024 at his home.
He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior, July, 1942 at age 11 at Woodstock Baptist Church. He served as an Ordained Deacon since 1982 and served in various leadership positions in his church and community.
Mr. Poor attended Woodstock Elementary, Canton High School, and North Georgia College.
He served 30 years in the Army, retiring as Full Colonel. His tours included many locations and bases throughout the United States including the Pentagon with 2 tours in Korea and 1 in Vietnam. He was an Army Aviator who flew both helicopters and fixed wing airplanes. As a career officer he earned many honors and awards.
After retirement from the Army he was a project manager and vice president for Southeast Operations with RGI, Inc.
He enjoyed many many hobbies but his greatest joy was his family, church, and friends.
He was a loyal servant of the Lord who loved and respected everyone. He was loving and generous to all and had a strong and prayerful desire for all to accept and know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
He will truly be missed by his loving family and friends but has left all with valuable and treasured memories of a great and remarkable man.
Funeral services are scheduled for 12:00 PM, on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, from the Chapel of South Canton Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery at 2:00 PM.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at South Canton Funeral Home.

Mother - Ruby Lee Poor
Step-Mother - Ethel B. Poor
Brothers - Albert Jr. Poor, Lewis Poor, James Poor, and Leroy Poor
Survivors include:
Wife - Ruby Anita "Ann" Poor
Daughter & Son-in-law - Susan & Larry Everett
Daughter & Son-in-law - Sheri & David Shirley
Granddaughter - Ami Everett
Granddaughter - Samantha Shirley
Grandson - Daniel Shirley (Grace)
Great Grandson - Dylan Shirley
Nieces and Nephews - Numerous Nieces and Nephews also survive.
