Virginia A. Iredell

Virginia Alsobrook Iredell passed away March 2nd, 2021. Recently Virginia celebrated her 95th birthday at home surrounded by family. Born on February 27,1926 in Atlanta,Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Harry Parks Alsobrook, and Elizabeth Mayson Maynard. She is predeceased by her son Frank Iredell Jr. (Jay). She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Frank J Iredell, her sister Elizabeth Campbell (Walt Campbell) daughters Betsy Iredell (Lawrence Freil) Gingee Iredell Black (Bill Black) and daugher-in-law, Joanna Iredell. Grandchildren, Ryann Iredell Hannah (Mike Hannah) Brandon Black (fiance Maddie Rhodes) Leslie Iredell-Lyne, Jamie Iredell-Lyne. Great grandson Mathew Hannah and numerous cousins. Virginia graduated from West Fulton Highschool in 1943, and was a member of the Owl Club. She also was a member of the Kings Row Womans Club, and an avid bridge player with the Kings Row ladies, and couples Bridge Club. In her younger days, she worked as a secretary where she met her husband Frank, and after moving to Decatur, she became secretary to the president of Agnes Scott College. Virginia attended Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Decatur. After her children arrived she became a devoted homemaker, cook, baker, and artist, and many friends and family recall the fun activities around the Iredell house. Virginia was always ready to volunteer, lend an ear, and celebrate the accomplishments of her family and friends. She will be missed by many.
