Roza Poyasova

Roza Vasylievna Poyasova, age 89, of Canton, GA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Northside Cherokee Hospital.

Roza was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved music, reading and the outdoors. Born in Mologa, Russia, she survived WWII, Stalinism and the collapse of the Soviet Union. She was a bride at 18, a mother at 19, a grandmother at 40 and a widow at 41. She emigrated to the United States to be with her daughter and son-in-law in Georgia in her 70’s.

She worked as a decorated Registered Nurse for 47 years in hospitals, schools and the last 20 years in Emergency Medical Services – helping sick, saving lives and even delivering babies in the ambulance!

She is survived by her daughter, Svitlana and two grandsons, Steven and Vlady. The oldest of 5 children, she also leaves behind two of her surviving siblings still in Russia, Margarita and Sasha.

Visitation and a funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at South Canton Funeral Home, 3147 Marietta Highway, Canton, 30114. Visitation will be from 4pm to 6pm with a service and reception immediately following at 6pm.
