Robert James Rooks

Robert James Rooks, age 95, of Canton, GA passed away Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Northside Hospital Cherokee. He started out as a mechanic with a garment manufacturing company, where he eventually got into the sales division of industrial sewing equipment. Robert was an accomplished and self-taught steel guitar player. Roy Wiggins, who played at the Grand Ole Opry was his mentor. Robert was also a dedicated family man and enjoyed building model airplanes.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 12:00 PM, on Friday, December 27, 2024, from the Our Lady of the Mountains Roman Catholic Church with Father Nguyen officiating.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, December 26, 2024, at South Canton Funeral Home and from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Carter Funeral Home in Winder, GA. A graveside service will immediately follow the visitation at 3:00 PM at Barrow Memorial Gardens in Winder, GA.

He was preceded in death by, Parents: Robert Samuel Rooks and Alma Belle Rooks, Wife: Mary Grace Rooks, daughter-in-law: Diane Rooks, and three sisters: Geneva Patterson, Jeanette Rooks, and Bernice Robinson.

Son - Jim Rooks

Grandchildren - David Matthew Rooks, Jennifer Diane Dobson, Alicia Nicole Brown, James F. Parsons III, & Janet Wood.
