Linda Jo Harger

Linda Jo Harger, age 76, of Waleska, GA passed away peacefully on August 29, 2023 at The Landings of Canton Hills after a long battle with dementia.

Linda was born on October 25, 1946 in Saginaw, Michigan. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1964 and went on to marry Bruce in June of 1965. Linda moved to Sault Ste. Marie in 1967 when Bruce began his teaching career with Lake Superior State University. She worked for the Michigan Employment Security Commission until her retirement in 1997. After retiring, she spent several years working in the insurance industry.

Linda often recalled that her mother would ask, “What do you see in that skinny farm boy?” She would always respond, “Potential!” This was clearly the case as Linda and Bruce celebrated their 58 th anniversary in June and were still deeply in love after all these years.

Linda enjoyed watching her daughters, Lisa and Kristin, skate for the Hiawatha Skating Club. She spent countless hours playing music for the skaters and worked behind the scenes for the annual skating shows. Linda loved watching her son, B.T., play baseball. She was always quick to offer some advice when the home plate umpire needed assistance calling balls and strikes. She often volunteered at War Memorial Hospital and also served on the Soo Co-op Credit Union board. Linda also enjoyed reading, walking, entertaining, traveling, and spending time with family, friends, and her beloved dogs. Linda and her husband spent many winters in Mazatlán, Mexico. Over the years, they became a part of the community of Mazatlán too. They regularly attended the local baseball games, supported the arts, and developed many close

friendships while in Mazatlán.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Cassie (Hill) Wilson; husband, Bruce Harger, brothers, Robert and Thomas Wilson; and sisters, Gail (Wilson) Jozwiak, Judith (Wilson) Peaslee, Corinne (Wilson) Loth.

Son and Daughter-in-law - Bruce (Shelley) Harger, Waleska, GA

Daughter and Son-in-law - Lisa Harger (Terrence) Sweeney, Redwood City, CA

Daughter and Son-in-law - Kristin Harger (Bryan Kirker), Phelan, CA

Ten Grandchildren also survive.
