Lester Tillman Harris, Jr., age 84, of Rome, GA passed away Sunday, February 18, 2024 at Piedmont Cartersville.
Forever, the prankster, Lester Tillman Harris, Jr (T-Boy) loved telling stories and jokes, almost as much as he loved his family. As a father, he was a guiding light, a shoulder to turn to, and fountain of love. As “Papa”, he was a wealth of knowledge and always ready with a hug.
He proudly served his county in the US Navy from 1959-1966, serving aboard the world’s first Guided Missile Cruiser - the USS Boston (CAG-1). After the Navy, Lester returned home and spent the majority of his career as the Director of Laundry Services for his beloved (Wellstar) Kennestone Hospital.
As an avid billiards player, he eventually opened and ran the Space Run Family Game Center for over a decade. If you had two hours to spare, he might be able to get through telling about half of the cars he owned. T-Boy collected cars like he collected friends.
He eventually retired and started working part-time at a local fruit stand where he would regale his customers with jokes and stories while helping load their cars with vegetables, pumpkins, and Christmas trees.
Rest easy Papa - we’ll take it from here.
