Lawrence "Chuck" McKay, 94, of Powder Springs, Georgia, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2025, due to heart failure. A steadfast son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, & great, great grandfather, Chuck was born on July 22, 1930, in Niagara Falls, NY, to Arthur and Yvonne McKay. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Frances of 57 years, and together they built a life full of joyous memories and laughter.
An exuberant spirit with a penchant for storytelling, Chuck commenced every chat with "Let me tell you a little story," delighting friends and family with his tales. His laughter and outgoing nature defined him, making him a cherished community member of the Saint John Vianney Catholic Church.
Chuck proudly served in the Navy for four years serving in the Korean War before dedicating 35 years to the Harrison Radiator Division of General Motors. He filled his days with simple joys—watching football, playing cards, fishing, gardening, reading, and relishing fellowship with others.
He leaves behind Children and many Grandchildren, Sal Pusateri (Agnes), Mary Smith Ruscansky (James Ruscansky) Kelly Smith (deceased), Jacqueline Melton (Mark Melton) Cheryl Camacho (Luis Camacho) Kathy Laurio (Michael Laurio) David Smith (Leslie) Jeff Smith, Toni Gunby (Scott) and many Great & Great, Great Grand's, sister Janet Wright, and brother Norman McKay. He was predeceased by his siblings Leonard, Albert, Victor, Raymond, and Donald McKay, sister Alice Hartman, and his parents. Kelly Smith(deceased) Son in law, Jack Smith.
A celebration of Chuck's life will be held at the South Canton Funeral Home, with a viewing from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by a memorial service. All who knew and loved Chuck are welcome to attend and honor his vibrant life he lived and share their stories.
