Jo Ann Woodall Barre, 79, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at her home in Canton, GA. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
She was born on December 14, 1946, in Decatur, Alabama, to parents, L.M. and Laverne Woodall.
She married the love of her life, Jim Barre on June 10, 1967. They were one another’s sidekick for over 60 years.
She was a 1965 Campbell High School graduate. An active member of Saint Clement’s Episcopal Church for 52 years. She worked as a clerk in the Cherokee County Tax Commissioner’s office and later started a tag and title business for the community. Before she retired from Lucent Technologies she became a Master Gardener in Bartow county. During her retirement she dedicated her time to rescue every plant and flower whether it needed or not.
Her most cherished title was Granny. She was always up for anything that involved her with her grandkids and Chic-fil-A. She loved everyone and never met a stranger. She had contagious smile, was full of laughter and kindness, and her sense of humor will be truly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Paul Woodall and Mike Woodall.
She will be forever cherished by her husband, Jim Barre
Daughters Tracy Barre and Tricia (Todd) Parks
Son Heath (BriAnne) Barre
Grandson T.J. Parks
Granddaughter Tara Parks
Sister Martha (Russell) Hamilton
Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Jo Ann adored the vibrant colors of a spring or summer garden, for this reason we kindly request that everyone wear bright colors as we honor her life and we also ask that you bring your favorite flower to the service to be placed on the flower cross that will be used by the church.
