The world lost a beautiful soul and our guiding light, Jean Smith, 91, on Thursday, June 18, 2026. Born to Sunu and Thelma Lund on 2/26/1935, Jean approached every challenge in her life with courage, dignity, and unwavering love.
As our mother, she was the anchor of our family. Whether we needed a warm embrace, a voice of reason, or help with our homework, she was always there. She instilled in us the importance of kindness, hard work, and doing what is right. She loved spending her time gardening, cooking, sewing, and watching her many grandchildren. Her infectious laugh and warm hugs will be profoundly missed by everyone whose lives she touched.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Smith; her son, Ronnie Smith; her parents, Sunu and Thelma Lund; her brothers, Doyle Lund and Kenny Lund; and her sister, Dana Lund Hill.
She is survived by her loving children, Rusty, Ricky, and Jackie, her 15 grandchildren, Justin, Chris, Christopher, David, Danny, Cyndi, Pam, Allen, Pamela, Mary, Shawna, Ricky, Allen, Lizzy, Jennifer, Aaron, and Will. Her great-granddaughter and caretaker, Katie, as well as 28 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends, will never forget the love she brought to their lives.
A celebration of life to honor her beautiful spirit will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of South Canton Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Cherokee Memorial Park in Canton.
The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 12:00 PM until the funeral hour at 2:00 PM.
