James Thomas Bennett

James "Jim" Thomas Bennett, age 88, of Waleska, GA passed away Monday, August 21, 2023 at his residence. Jim was known by all his friends for his spirituality and kind, gentle spirit. He served his country in the United States Army and went on to attend Hunter College and City College of New York. He was an extremely talented artist, and donated many of his pieces to charity. Mr. Bennett volunteered for Must Ministries for 25 years, was a King Lion in the Lion's Club, and was also a Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus for 60 years. As a devout Catholic, he was very dedicated to his religion. Jim adored his wife of 60 years and they loved to serve their community and Church together. He was the best husband, and a wonderful father.

A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 11:00 AM, on Thursday, August 24, 2023, from Our Lady of the Mountains Roman Catholic Church with Father Young Nguyen officiating. Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery at 2:00 PM.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at South Canton Funeral Home.

He was preceded in death by, Parents; Mary McGuire Bennett and James Joseph Bennett, three sisters; Mary (Steve) Stimpfel, Anne (Robert) Conway, and Elizabeth (Ed) Driessy.

Survivors include:

Wife of over 60 years - Dolores Bennett

Daughter & Son-in-law - Deborah Bennett (Phillip) Fierro

Daughter & Son-in-law - Colleen Bennett (Rick Nelligan)

Grandchildren - Zack Fierro, Zane Fierro, Jessica Bergeron, and Sara Nelligan.

Four Great Grand Children

Numerous Nieces, Nephews, and many friends also survive.
