Jack Eugene Whitmire, age 96, of Canton, GA passed away Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Trinity Manor Personal Care Home in Free Home, Ga. Jack was a lifelong resident of Cherokee County, growing up in the North Canton Village and known for his wit and humor throughout the community. He was a graduate of Canton High, Reinhardt Collage and Piedmont College. Shortly after his college graduation, he was drafted and proudly served in the United States Army as a Sergeant First Class. After his military duty he was employed at Canton Textile Mill for over thirty years to serve as the Vice President of Industrial Relations. During this time, he also served as a member of the executive committee of the Reinhardt College Board of Trustees, a past chairman of the Board of Directors for the R.T. Jones Memorial Library System and held many other leadership positions in civic and professional associations throughout Georgia. In the early 1980’s Jack served four years as the Executive Director of the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce. He was actively involved in the Atlanta Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America and the recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. He was a member and Deacon of Canton First Baptist. His calling for music also led him to serve area churches in the position of Interim Minister of Music. Jack was also honored to be a part of the Singing Deacons’ Quartet at Canton First Baptist Church.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for 4:00 PM, on Sunday, October 6, 2024, from the Chapel of South Canton Funeral Home with Rev. Cliff Pace officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Sunday, October 6, 2024, at the South Canton Funeral Home.
He was preceded in death by, Wife: Betty Ann Whitmire, Sister: Mary Jane Whitmire and Brother: Billy Whitmire

Grandchildren - Michael and Heather Whitmire, Beth and Brady Cornelison
Great Grand Children - Brock and Berkley Cornelison and Brantley Whitmire
