Ivy Elaine Eidson

Ivy Elaine Eidson, age 72, of Canton, Georgia, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, January 14, 2022.

Born on October 18, 1949 in Atlanta, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Homer Frank Newman and Ivy Louise Newman.

Elaine devoted her life to being a homemaker, mother and a Gran. Her greatest joy in life were her girls and her grandchildren along with her husband of 52 years, Jim.

She was known for her witty sense of humor, her bookkeeping abilities and her delicious carrot cakes. Being the eldest daughter of a large family, she was like a second mom to her younger siblings, whom she loved dearly.

She enjoyed family get togethers, shopping, playing slot machines and traveling with her girls. She was an avid football fan, a daily crossword puzzle solver and a wonderful cook.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Michael Newman and David Newman.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Eidson; daughters and son in laws, Joely and Matt Mixon of Clarkesville, Georgia; Jana and Aaron Roesch of Cumming, Georgia; Jessica and Tyler Bulman of Canton, Georgia; her grandchildren, Carly and Matthew Mixon, Jacob and Aidan Roesch, Jackson and Mason Bulman; her brothers, Frankie Newman and Gary Newman; her sisters, Debbie Awtry and Donna Aberson; her brother and sister in laws, Ken Eidson, Judy Hembree, Billy and Melba Eidson, Ronnie Eidson and Rita Peoples; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 19, 2022 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at South Canton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held immediately after visitation in the chapel of South Canton Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Macedonia Memorial Park.
