Idalia Franco Conring

March 26, 1949 — December 10, 2023

A private service for Idalia “Dolly” Franco Conring, 74, of Canton will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023, at the Georgia National Cemetery.

Idalia was born on March 26, 1949, in Rocksprings, TX, to Agapito Trevino Franco and Casimira Castillo Franco, and joined our Lord in Heaven on December 10, 2023. She grew up in Rocksprings, TX, and attended Rocksprings ISD. She married Robert M. Conring on January 1, 1970. They raised their two sons and daughter in Texas until 1982 when they moved to Georgia for Robert’s job. Robert and Idalia lived in Rockmart, GA, from 1982 until 2014. They have been residing in Canton, GA since 2014.

Idalia was a mom, a tia, a lita, but most importantly, she was a woman of God. In 1 Peter 4:10, we read “As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” Idalia’s gift was to serve and she did it well. She served her church and community. She served her family by providing them with her home, childcare, homemade tortillas and buñuelos, protective prayers, and relentless love. She served all by spreading joy through her big smile, funny stories, and willingness to laugh at herself. One of her longest running jokes was that she was 29 every year on her birthday, so for the sake of her legacy, Idalia was 29 when she passed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Agapito and Casimira Franco; infant son, Joe; infant brothers Elias and George Franco; her brother, Agapito Franco Jr.; sisters, Ernestina Quirino, Elia Rivas, Esther Aguirre, Elida Pena, Elena Villarreal, and Elva Torres.

She leaves behind her love of 54 years, Robert Morris Conring; her son, Chris Franco Conring; son, Elias Franco Conring and his wife, Sidney Ann Conring; and daughter, Tina Corynne Conring; Her grandchildren, Courtenay M. Conring, Christen C. Conring, Caroline D. Conring, Isabelle M. Conring, Olivia G. Conring, M. Kage Bargeron, Drew R. Bargeron, Ada Blue Lawson, and Nova Violet Lawson; Numerous nieces and nephews; sisters, Juanita Rocha, Ermelinda Gomez, and Sara DeLeon.
