February 4, 1936 – June 20, 2025


Mr. Homer J. Davis, age 89, of Canton, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends. Born in 1936 in Keithsburg, Georgia, he was a lifelong resident of Cherokee County and a beloved member of his community.


Mr. Davis proudly served two tours in the United States Army and was a devoted member of the Foot Washing Baptist faith. He was a faithful member and Past Master of Sharptop Masonic Lodge for over 54 years. He worked as a truck driver for Coca-Cola Company and later spent many years working for Ralph Lewis Construction alongside, Ralph, his lifelong best friend.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest J. Davis and Hester Dowda Davis; and his brothers, James, Jess, and Bob Davis.


He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Carol Payne Davis; daughters Angie (Tom) Lewis and Andrea (Erick) Stiles; grandchildren Heather (Shawn) Holcomb, Grace (Huntre) Lewis, Ruby Lewis, and Noah Stiles; great-grandson Riley Sisson; sister Ernestine (Peter) Hoffman; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, bonus great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.


Visitation will be held Sunday, June 22, from 3:30 PM to 7:30 PM and again Monday, June 23, from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at South Canton Funeral Home in Canton, Georgia.


Funeral services will follow on Monday, June 23, at 3:00 PM at Hopewell Baptist Church in Ball Ground, Georgia. Reverend Autry Dean, Reverend Edwin Bishop, Reverend Rodney King, and Reverend Dean Ghorley officiating.


Internment will follow in the Shoal Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in the

Clayton Community. (174 Fields McGhee Drive, Canton, Georgia 30114)


Pallbearers will be Ron Davis, Erick Stiles, Shawn Holcomb, Joel Payne, Noah Stiles, Riley Sisson, Tom Lewis, Huntre Woolwine, and Mark Lewis. Honorary pallbearer is Dave Payne.


In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital—an organization close to Mr. Davis’ heart.
