Helen Marie Clackum

Helen Marie Clackum, 88, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2025. She was born on May 7, 1936 in Marietta, Georgia. A beacon of love, strength, and kindness, she touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her, whether they called her Helen or Nana. She devoted more than 30 years to caring for others as a nurse’s aide at Kennestone Hospital, often working the night shift with unwavering dedication and compassion. Helen had a deep love for travel and cherished time spent with family and friends, finding joy in exploring both new destinations and beloved familiar places.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, JD Clackum, Jr.; daughter, Wanda Louise Clackum; parents, Verna and Beatrice Fricks; and son-in-law, Terry Walton. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be deeply missed by her children, Donnie Clackum, David (Debra) Clackum, Darlene (Ray) Clark, Karen Walton, Katrina Clackum, Tracey Clackum, Tonya Clackum; and her grandchildren, Kristi (Neil) Fuller, Bonnie (Tom) Harris, Amy (Allen) Mitchell, Jon Clackum, Julie (Graham) Arp, Travis Waldrop, Laura (Jared) Goss, Kayla (Kevin) Collins, Melissa (James) McGee, Morrissa Nikki Green, Dominique (Chad) Clackum; 14 great-grandchildren, sister, Gayle Forrester; and many dear nieces, nephews, and relatives.

She instilled in her loved ones the values of compassion, resilience, empathy, generosity, and a deep appreciation for family and friendship. Through her home-cooked meals, gentle guidance, and unwavering support, she ensured that those around her always felt loved and cared for. She had a rare gift for making people feel truly seen and heard. While we will deeply miss her warm embraces and steadfast guidance, the love and wisdom she shared will live on in our hearts forever.

A Memorial service to celebrate the life of Helen Clackum will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of South Canton Funeral Home with Rev. Graham Arp officiating. The family will receive friends at South Canton Funeral Home, 3147 Marietta Highway in Canton on Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
