With great joy, the family of Grace Simmons Reece, age 91, announces her joyful home going. Grace was preceded in death by her husband Vernon Jack Reece, her parents Joseph Berdine Simmons and Lola McGaha Simmons, and her beloved sister and brother-in-law, Kate and J.B. Johnston. Grace loved a 4-letter word- W-O-R-K. Her credo was Ï wanna wear out, not rust out.”” She was known for her green thumb, and her vegetable and flower gardens were her pride and joy. She enjoyed the harvest and canning of fresh vegetable and preparing country meals for her family. She was a gifted seamstress, quilter, artist, and craftsman. Her hands were rarely idle. She worked from daylight til sundown and beyond. She was a faithful daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, and Maw Maw. She is survived by her daughters, Ellen Reece Honea and Husband Donnie, Samantha Reece Wheeler and husband Darryl, Grandchildren Joshua Honea and wife Ellie, Katie Honea St. Onge and husband David, and Buckley Wheeler. Great Grandchildren Jilian and Jack St. Onge, Emma Jean and Nora Grace Honea, and Davis Wheeler. She was spirited and had an “I can do it myself” attitude no matter what the task except for one matter. Her only reliance was her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. At quitting time about 11 PM she could be found soaking her tired feet, reading her well-worn Bible, singing hymns from the Red Book Church Hymnal and praying.
