Frank D. Burns

Mr. Franklin Donald Burns, age 88, of Canton, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2025. He was born in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia March 24, 1937, the son of the late Albert and Jessie Burns.

As a 1955 Graduate of Roosevelt High School, Frank was a member of IBEW Local 613 for more than 60 years. As a big fan of Ga. Tech, Frank was an avid sports enthusiast who also pulled for Georgia except when playing Georgia Tech. Raising his family in Riverdale and Jonesboro Georgia, he coached his sons on many Little League teams. He enjoyed watching football, golf, and NASCAR on TV. He and his wife, Jean, relocated to the Canton area in 2004 to be closer to family. Here, he thoroughly enjoyed watching his grandchildren play rec sports and then high school and college golf. He especially enjoyed traveling to watch his son record songs and play the big stages, including the Grand Ole Opry. Fishing and just being outdoors were a great pleasure. Seen often chewing on a cigar, he never met a stranger he didn’t like chatting with, but he mostly enjoyed just being around his family. 

Frank is survived by his wife of 65 years Jean McKinney Burns, his two sons and their wives, Terry and Julie Burns of Canton, Georgia, and Keith and Bonnie Burns of Nashville, Tennessee; Brother Johnny Burns of Conyers, Georgia, Nine Grandchildren Josh, Jarrad, Frankie, Savannah, David, Brian, Eric, Kevin, Adam, and Ten Great Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews and Friends.

Funeral Services will be at the South Canton Funeral Home on Monday, October 13, 2025. 

Visitation will be from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm with the Funeral Service at 1:00 pm. Frank will be buried alongside his Mother and Father at the New Hope Cemetery, Paulding County,
