Edward C. Collins

August 28, 1968 - January 8, 2025

Edward Cannon Collins, 56, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, passed away on January 8th, 2025.

Eddy was born on August 28th, 1968, to Joe Edgar Collins and Shirley Latrena Craven in Mobile, Alabama. After graduating from Henderson County High School in 1987, he attended Murray State University after receiving a full scholarship for music.

Eddy spent many years serving at Mountain Lake Church, as well as the Christian ministry Tres Días. He was a devoted father and Papaw. He loved spending time shooting and riding dirt bikes with his son and nephew. He was an avid and passionate lover of music. As an accomplished saxophone player, he loved jazz and is most likely speaking to David Sanborn right now. He frequently reminisced on his years in the marching band, where he was a first chair saxophonist, and loved showing old videos to his children. He loved spending time with his kids and watching Alabama football every Saturday with his daughter. He also enjoyed fishing at the cabin on the Toccoa River or listening to John Mayer by a campfire. He was always dependable and only a phone call away no matter what time of day or night. He was knowledgeable on almost everything, and if he wasn’t, he would be by the end of the day if someone he loved needed help. As he always said, “YouTube is my friend.” He spent many hours playing video games with his kids and showed his love best by his delicious cooking. Eddy was very quick-witted and knew how to brighten a room by cracking a joke or saying something slightly inappropriate (but funny nonetheless).

Eddy was preceded in death by his stepfather, Delbert L. Cook, and sister, Robin D. Cook. He is survived by his wife, Shelley (Scott) Collins, son, Kyle D. Collins (Ana), daughter, Haley A. Collins (Sean), child, Logan G. Collins, granddaughter, Ryleigh, and grandson, Emerson. Additionally, he is survived by his father, Joe E. Collins Sr. (Cathy), his mother, Shirley L. Cook, brothers, Joe E. Collins Jr. (Debbie) and Michael “Chad” Collins (Octavia), sister, Shellie Miller (Wayne), as well as many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM at the Yahoola Creek Grill located at 1810 South Chestatee Street, Dahlonega, Georgia 30533. In place of flowers, the family requests donations to the Brain Aneurysm Foundation.
