Eddie Crosby

August 16, 1943 — January 20, 2026

Canton

Marshall Edison Crosby Jr., 82, of Canton, Georgia, peacefully passed away at home after a brief illness on January 20, 2026. He was surrounded by an abundance of lovefrom those who affectionately knew him as Dad, Pops, Ed, and Eddie.

Ed was born on August 16, 1943, in Charleston, South Carolina. He was raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, later moved to Chamblee, Georgia, at the age of 16. It was at Chamblee High School where he met the love of his life, Dian Jeter. They were married in August 1964 and shared 61 wonderful years.

Ed was raised in a Christian home and was of the Methodist faith. He was a devoted member of Hickory Flat Methodist Church for more than 50 years. A faithful servant, Ed served as lead usher for many years, taught youth Sunday School, served on the Board of Trustees, and participated in numerous mission trips both domestically and abroad.

Ed graduated from DeKalb Technical College with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and worked for Lucent Technologies for 38 years. He was a gifted woodworker and an avid gardener. Above all, his greatest passion was supporting his children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughters in their activities, sports, and interests.

In 1976, Ed was a founding member of the Hickory Flat Volunteer Fire Department.  Through his brave service to the community, he not only gave selflessly but also formed lifelong friendships. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the current firefighters for their kindness and support during Ed’s final days.

Ed is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Dian Jeter Crosby; his son, Stephen Crosby, and his daughter, Cathy (Daniel) Osborne. He is also survived by six grandchildren: David (Brianna) Mazzotta, Stephanie (Will) Pickett, Jordan Crosby, Seth Crosby, Emma Osborne, and Charlie Osborne; and three great-granddaughters: Zoey Mazzotta, Lucy Pickett, and Chloee Clark. He is further survived by his sister, Carolyn (Danny) Muse; special niece, Jennifer Jeter; and many nieces and a nephew.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall Edison Crosby Sr., and Maud Breland Crosby, and his in-laws, Bill and Daisy Jeter.
