Earl Groover, age 73, went to be with the Lord at home on September 28, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Earl was born in Cumming, Ga. in 1948 to Rupert and Ruth Groover. Earl and his younger sister, Rita, enjoyed a wonderful childhood living on farmland in beautiful North Georgia. Earl graduated from Forsyth County High School. He attended Reinhardt College and graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Agricultural Economics. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He then spent over 30 years as a loan officer helping North Georgia farmers. Earl met his wife, Regina, in 1975 and the two were married at Hightower Baptist Church in 1976. They were blessed with two children. Earl was actively involved in the lives of his kids and was a wonderful husband, devoted daddy and Papa. Kind, gentle, wise, and patient, Earl served Christ and His Church as a Sunday School teacher for both children and adult classes. He also served as the treasurer of the Hightower Food Bank. Whether in person or on his famous flip phone, he regularly spent time patiently listening and offering helpful wisdom to others. Earl loved spending time on the family farm. One year, he was named the Forsyth County Young Farmer of the year. Whether raising hogs, chickens, or cattle, he enjoyed taking care of the land God had given him. He also enjoyed sharing a love for farming with his kids, grandkids, and others who helped on the farm. Earl is survived by his wife, Regina; children Eric Groover (Courtney) and Dedra Kirkland (Michael); and seven beautiful grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Rita McFarland, and his parents, Rupert and Ruth Groover. The Family will receive family and friends on Saturday, October 2, 2021 from 1-6 pm at Hightower Baptist Church, outside at the upper pavilion. His body will lie-in-state inside the church on Sunday, October 3, 2021 from 12:30 until the funeral service at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Hightower Baptist Church Building Fund. "...that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way..." 1 Timothy 2:2 South Canton Funeral Home, dedicated to the families we serve, 770-479-3377.
