Craig Stuart McKenzie

March 6, 1950 - January 27, 2025

Craig Stuart McKenzie, 74, died January 27, 2025 in Canton, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his son, Adam Stuart McKenzie, and his parents, John Stuart McKenzie and Virginia Lee Brown McKenzie. He is survived by his wife, Linda Green McKenzie, son, Benjamin Stuart McKenzie (Karen), and daughters, Laura Catherine McKenzie Vorel (Jim) and Claire Elizabeth McKenzie, his sisters, Carol Ann McKenzie Fuller (Sam), McKenzie Keenan, Heather Dawn McKenzie Myers (Doug), and three grandchildren, Charlotte Virginia McKenzie, Addison Marie McKenzie, and Brady Stuart McKenzie, stepson, Allen Green (April), stepdaughter, Angela Cowan (John), and grandchildren, Addie Green, Aaron Green, Audrey Green, Nella Cowan, Levi Cowan, Thomas Cowan, and Jaxon Cowan.

Craig grew up in Atlanta and attended The Westminster Schools. He received a BA from Presbyterian College where he played on the tennis team, and an MA in History from Emory University. He taught American History and coached tennis in high schools for many years, initially at Lakeview Academy in Gainesville, GA. He shifted his focus to printing sales for a while before returning back to the classroom and coaching - he spent time at both Pinehurst Academy in Cumming, GA, and Parkview High School in Lilburn, GA, before officially turning summer break into a permanent break. His passion to teach, and coach, continued in retirement with history and tennis lessons at Wild Dunes for any and all family members interested. As he settled into retirement, he devoted his energy to work supporting “No Longer Bound,” “Celebrate Recovery,” and to leading Bible Study groups and being on the Praise Team at Sixes Church.

Craig loved music, enjoying an early start with the Atlanta Boy Choir, and composed songs for all of his children on their 21st birthdays. Playing his guitar and singing in his church, and for his grandchildren, made him very happy. Craig is fondly remembered by all of his family for his generosity, his soft-spoken nature, and his sense of humor.
