Chris King

April 4, 1972 — July 11, 2025

Retired Sergeant Chris King lost his courageous battle with cancer on July 11, 2025. Chris, beloved husband, father, son, and brother, will be missed by all who knew him.

Chris, a United States Marine Corps Veteran, joined the Cherokee County Fire and Rescue in 2005. He retired with the rank of Sergeant on February 13, 2025. During his twenty-year tenure, Chris’s strength, courage, dedication, and sense of humor left an enduring impression on his community, friends, and family.

Chris was a hero, running into the fires to save lives and protect those he loved, as well as those fortunate enough to cross his path. There will never be another man like Chris King. A die-hard Mets fan, Chris loved his Harley motorcycle, ’80s music, and a good bourbon.

Chris is survived by his wife Shannon, children Tana, Bronson, Skylar (spouse Adam) and Ian, his mother Grace King, sister Laurie Harper, numerous nieces, and nephews and of course his fire service brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 17th from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and Friday, July 18th at Noon at His Hands Church in Woodstock. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 18th at 1:00 pm.
