Carolyn Parr Clayton of Canton passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 87 years old. She was called home to the Lord on Friday, December 29, 2023. She was born on May 16, 1936 to James D. Parr and Sarah Boyd Parr. Raised in East Atlanta, Carolyn and her two older sisters, Dorothy and Betty, grew up in Cabbagetown and spent their childhood and youth roller skating around Grant Park. An active member of Grace Baptist Church in Mableton, Carolyn came to know the Lord when she was a teenager.
At the age of 16, she met the love of her life Claude Clayton. There were married in 1953 on Christmas Day in front of her family's Christmas tree. They went on to have 3 sons, Chris, Scott and Mark. Carolyn retired from the State of Georgia Board of Regents where she worked for over 30 years. She and Claude celebrated over 62 years of marriage before he was called home to the Lord in May of 2015.
She set the example for her family in her faithful role as a godly wife, mother and grandmother.
She was blessed to be called Memaw by 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren who will carry on her memory. She will always be remembered as "The Sweetest One".
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, on Sunday, December 31, 2023, from the South Canton Funeral Home with Rev. Dwight Henderson officiating. Interment will follow at Bascomb United Methodist Cemetery in Woodstock.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Sunday, December 31, 2023, at the South Canton Funeral Home.

Grandchildren - Christina, Ashley, Julie, Marion and Caleb, Brandon, Shannon and Austin, Kaley and Barrett
Great Grand Children - Evalen, Uriah, Eila, A.J. and Abi, Lucas, Jacob, Samuel, Logan, Sophia and Wyatt, Charlotte, Carter and Emerson
Several Nieces, Nephews, Friends and other Family also survive.
