Retired educator, Office Manager, and Master Gardener, Carol Jackson’s incredibly rich life didn’t come to an end with her passing. Carol passed away peacefully at home on October 7, 2024. She leaves us after a blessed 82-year life. Those of us left here are determined to honor her legacy by carrying forward her loving manner, incredible sense of humor, and never ending smile.
Carol was born in Buffalo, NY, the eldest of three. She was active in the community as a docent at the Buffalo History Museum, a lifeguard, and a synchronized swimming instructor. A few years after graduating from Buffalo State University, she became an Air Force spouse, traveling and teaching across the country and ending up in Stone Mountain, Georgia. She received her master’s degree at Georgia State University. While working as an office manager and raising her daughter, she continued volunteering including the Red Cross and at the Fox Theater in Atlanta. She could be found bowling, playing tennis, cooking, and attending every activity in which her daughter was involved.
After retiring and moving to Canton with her husband, Carol became involved with Friends of the Library. She also became a Master Gardener, and joined the Trayletaah Garden Club, where she served as president for two years. Her favorite part of working and volunteering was connecting with so many special people.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and June Hicks, brother, John Hicks, and nephew, Robert Williamson.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Joseph, daughter Kellie Schenecker (Parker), Step-Son Bradley Jackson, sister Joan Williamson (Timothy), nephews Joshua (Christina) and Jeremiah (Brooke) Hicks, and Adam (Erin) Williamson, and three grandchildren Jonathan and Jake Yancey and Marinada Jackson.
A private family service is scheduled for 12:30 PM, on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, from the Georgia National Cemetery with Nathan Brandon officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at South Canton Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to her beloved Friends of the Library at Hickory Flat Library, Must Ministries, or a special non-profit of your choice, would make Carol smile.
