Obituary for William Clarence "Bill" Conley

Coach” Bill Conley passed away peacefully at home following a courageous battle with Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis on Saturday, July 23, 2011.

Bill Conley was born in East Atlanta, attended Murphy High School, Georgia Institute of Technology, Middle Georgia College, and Georgia State University. He was a caring and devoted husband for 56 years, an artist who presented many friends with oil, acrylic and charcoal portraits, painted signs, and memorable water color caricatures. He was a veteran who served in the U.S. Coast Guard. Then he worked as an educator, teacher, coach, peer, and mentor at The Marist School, St. Pius X Catholic High School, and he retired from The Lovett School after 33 years.

He is survived by his loving wife Phyllis, children Jeff (Mindi) Conley, Duluth, GA, Clint (Leigh) Conley, Norcross GA, Prisca Rhinehart, Alpharetta GA; grandchildren Cati, Cristi, Courtney Conley all of Duluth GA, Parker, Phillip Conley of Norcross GA, and Amanda (Corey) Buskell of Cleveland, GA, Joseph Rhinehart of Alpharetta GA.

A Celebration of life for Bill Conley will take place in two memorials. The first memorial will be for immediate family, friends and the Bent Tree Community at Mountain View Community Church, 470 Bent Tree Drive, Jasper GA 30143 on Tuesday, July 26, 2011. Service will begin at 2:00 PM followed by a reception at the church. A second memorial will follow on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at The Lovett School for all family, friends, former faculty and staff who shared in his legacy. The memorial will begin at 11:00 AM and there will be a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bent Tree Beautification of the Lake and Wildlife Association, 40 Little Pine Mountain Road, Jasper, GA 30143.
