Obituary for Van S. Satterfield

Van S. Satterfield of Rydal age 79 passed away on Saturday afternoon February 6th following a long illness. Van was the son of the late Roy and Leila Satterfield and brother of the late Wilton Satterfield.

Van came from a long family line of sawmillers and he enjoyed this profession until he retired. After retirement, he still worked on chain saws, weed eaters, blowers and other small equipment.

Van is survived by his wife Glenda Satterfield, his children Cheryl (Doug) Charbonneau, Rex Satterfield and Tamra (Kenneth) White and his step children: Kathy (Ronnie) Sivell, Jeff (Susan) Sharpton, Greg (Jenny) Sharpton and Nancy Sharpton. Grandchildren Brandon (Jessica) Charboneau, Donovan (Alexis) Reddin, Jamie (Shawn) Patrick, Riley Bailey and Chance and Jessie Satterfield. Step grandchildren, Jennifer and Julie Sharpton, Natalie, Caroline and Ella Stone, Silas and Isaac Sharpton. He is also survived by 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Dr. Roger Hiser, the staff of Amedisys and to the wonderful staff at The Oaks for their care of Van during his illness.

Graveside Service will be held at the Satterfield Cemetery at Mt. Olive Baptist Church on Tuesday, Feb 9th at 2:pm. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Brandon Charboneau, Donovan Reddin, and Shawn Patrick, step sons, Jeff Sharpton, and Ronnie Sivell and nephew, Tate Satterfield. Honorary pallbearer, step son Greg Sharpton.
