Obituary for Ruel H. Merrick

Ruel H. Merrick, age 81, of Acworth, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2011, at Northside Hospital Cherokee. He retired from the U.S. Army after 26 years of service as a Master Sgt. He was a member of Special Forces in the Green Beret and was a combat Medic. He was also a member of Kellogg Creek Church of Christ.



A memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at the Chapel of South Canton Funeral Home with Mr. Joel West officiating. Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery.



Survivors include his wife, Jenelda Merrick; daughters, Melinda Diekmeyer, Cynthia Murray and Sandy Roberts; sisters, Clarine Sizemore and Lorraine Sommer; grandchildren, Brian Murray, Erin Davis, Justin Murray, Michael Roberts, Ryan Roberts and Kevin Roberts; great grandchildren, Kayla Davis, Collin Davis and William Roberts; several nieces and nephews also survive.



The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. prior to the memorial service.
