Obituary for Roger Leon Marks

Roger Marks, 84, an 18-year resident of Canton, passed away peacefully at his home Saturday, August 27, 2022. He is survived by his daughter Dee (Marks) Roberts, and son Roger “Chip” Marks Jr; son-in-law (Bobby) and daughter-in-law (Kim English); Brother, Jerry (Barbara) Marks. Four grandchildren Brian (Amanda) Roberts, Mandy Marks, Alex (Liz) Roberts, and Erin Marks (Brad) Stone; five great-grandchildren Collins, Reid, Camden, Reese, and Wynn (Roberts); and friend Vickey Edwards. He is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Christine.

Born to a veteran, he was selected to the United States Air Force at age 18, where he served in radar operations. Roger helped pioneer the early Fin-Tech industry, working in sales/marketing for Atlanta Postal Credit Union, Visa Credit Cards, and eventually becoming President of Southeastern Bankcard Association, where he retired after a successful 30-year career to play the game he loved: golf.

Roger was a longtime member of Hidden Hills Country Club & The Golf Club at Bradshaw Farm, where he posted numerous Hole-in-Ones. He was an avid traveler, Alabama Crimson Tide football fan, fisherman, and proud “Pop” to his loving family.

A private burial will take place at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Tucker. A memorial will be held with family and friends at Bradshaw Farm Golf Club in Woodstock on Tuesday, August 30 from 2-4pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations are to be made to your favorite charity in Roger's memory.
