Obituary for Richard "Dick" Hayles

After a courageous two year battle with gastric cancer Richard "Dick" Hayles went to be with his Heavenly Father on February 5th, 2013. There will be much rejoicing in Heaven as he joins his loving mother, Louise Gilmore Hayles and beloved sister, Jane Marie Hayles Richmond.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 7 at the Georgia Memorial Park with Rev. Charles Davis officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday at South Canton Funeral Home.

In the early 70's a job transfer brought Dick from his native Hueytown, Alabama to Georgia where he met and married his wife, Elvy, and during their 39 year marriage it was indeed rare to see one without the other. One of their favorite pastimes was spending Fall Saturdays tailgating and watching the Auburn Tigers play football. Everyone who knew Dick would tell you that he was a man who very much played the game of life by his own rules.

Other than his wife he is survived by his father, J. A. Hayles (Melba) of Frisco City, AL, daughter Kimberly Hayles of Canton, GA, Sons, Travis (Christie Spivey) and Aaron Pitts (Gayle Shepke), grandsons Aaron (Brianna), Christopher (Jessica) and Joey Germick, great grandson, Troy Germick, Uncle, Dudley Gilmore of Auburn, AL. Other family members include Terry Cannon, Dale Pitts, Barbara Cannon and several great nieces and nephews.
