Obituary for Peggy Barnes Page

It is with great sorrow that the family of Peggy Barnes Page, age 83, of Canton, GA shares the passing of their mother. She died at home surrounded by her family on April 3, 2021 just 33 days after her dear husband was called home. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Ottis Franklin Page, her parents, Huey Barnes and Tennie Beavers Barnes, her brothers, Oran Barnes, Johnny Barnes, and Charles Barnes and her sister, Sarah Barnes Hales. She is survived by her daughter Nan (Jim) Putnam, son Barry (MaryAnn) Page, and daughter Patty (Jon) Turner. Her grandchildren are Bo Page, Bethany (Johnathan) Welsh, Clare (Brandon) Ward, Brandi (Jake) Pendergraft, Mariam (Sam) Moldenhauer, Brooke Putnam, Sarah Turner, and Jonathan Turner. She was blessed with three great-grandchildren, Juniper and Teddy Pendergraft and Adalynn Ward. Her sisters, Mary Ann Weatherby, Patsy Fendley, Sue McFarland, Brenda McPherson, and Norma Teague as well as her brother, Lamar Barnes, and many nieces and nephews also survive her.
Peggy grew up in the Clayton community and attended high school at Reinhardt Academy. She fondly recalled stories of life growing up with her brothers and sisters, especially her twin sister, Patsy. In 1960, she married the love of her life, Ottis Page. After time living in Fort Lee, Virginia where Ottis was stationed, they returned to Canton where they raised their family. Peggy and Patsy started and ran their own cleaning business. Having her own business allowed Peggy the flexibility to spend time with her grandchildren which brought her (and them) great joy!
Peggy was a servant of the Lord and a servant to her fellow man. She was a prayerful woman and showed her children and grandchildren, by example, that their comfort on this earth comes from God above. Ottis and Peggy attended Hopewell Baptist Church (Clayton) and Indian Knoll Baptist Church. She was blessed to see her children and grandchildren saved.
