Obituary for Paula DaSantos (Crine)

Paula Crine DaSantos, age 69, passed away September 1, 2020. She passed away peacefully while with
one of her best friends at one of her favorite places, the shore.
She was born April 24, 1951 in Freehold, New Jersey to Mary and Paul Crine and was one of five sisters. Her sisters were Barbara (Bobbie), Marianne (Cookie), Karen, and Joanne (Jo). She met the love
of her life, Deryl DaSantos, while out for a stroll on the boardwalk in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Paula and Deryl soon married on February 24, 1973 and planted roots in Georgia.

Paula was known to light up a room with just her smile. She loved her family, teaching, gardening, her dogs, her chickens, and her life. Paula touched so many lives throughout the years. She was the best wife, mom, sister, grandmother, aunt, teacher, and friend. She had a love of animals starting at a very young age which all started with a monkey that her sister gave her. She always had several projects in motion at any given moment and wasn’t finished with them until they were perfect. She was never one to sit idle.

For over 25 years, Paula taught in the Cherokee County School District. She was born to teach and help young children find their own path. She treated every child as if they were her own, and she wanted nothing but the best for each of her students. She strived for excellence in everything she did. She never allowed a roadblock to get in her way. She began college at the age of 40 all while pregnant with her third child, mothering two boys, and working two jobs, one being a full-time Paraprofessional at Canton Elementary School. She later went on to receive her Master’s degree in childhood education and, if that weren’t enough, she pushed beyond her Master’s degree to receive her Educational Specialist.

To know Paula was to love her. She put everyone’s needs in front of her own. She never met a stranger. She always gave people the benefit of the doubt. She was a devoted Catholic and lived her life to serve for the greater good. She gave her children and husband the gift of encouragement, pride, and compassion. The world is a better place to have had Paula in it. Her gifts will forever flourish in the hearts of those she touched.

Paula is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Deryl Aubrey DaSantos, two sons and their wives, Nick and Natalie DaSantos, Grant and Chloe DaSantos, a daughter and her husband, Danielle and James Cosey, and four grandchildren: Adeline, Taj, Emerson, and Maple DaSantos. She is also survived by sisters Joanne Hurley and Barbara Moore, brother-in-laws Gary Corliss and Bob Ulrich, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Pamela and John Schofield, sister-in-law Tamara DaSantos and many nephews. Her family was her life and she was immensely proud of them all, just as they always were of her.

Although Paula’s funeral is limited to immediate family due to the country’s current restrictions, we ask that you continue to celebrate her life and share the many memories you have of her. Paula’s funeral is scheduled for Monday September 14, 2020 at the Georgia National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that you make a designated donation to Paula’s garden club: Trayletaah Garden Club – Susan O’Neill 800 Sutallee Ridge Trail NE White GA 30184. The donations will specifically be used for the flowers on Paula’s grave and garden club projects that she cared deeply about.
