Obituary for Mesaie Elias Kebede

A brief biography, Mesaie Admasse Kebede was born on December 16, 1979, in Atlanta, Georgia. His loving parents, Hirut Negatu and Admasse Kebede, raised their first born, Mesaie, with love and adoration, in accordance to Ethiopian Orthodox Christian faith and traditions, surrounded by family and friends. Starting from a young age until his late teens, he attended and served at the St. Mary Orthodox Centennial High School in Maryland, VA., where he graduated in 1998.

Mesaie joined the United States Marine Corp at the age of 19 and proudly served from September 1999 to November 2006. He was stationed in Iraq for two tours and also in Okinawa, Japan. After completing his service, he attended ITT Technical Institute in Atlanta, GA and received his Associate's Degree in Computer Science and a Bachelor's Degree in Information Security in 2013. In his professional career, Mesaie held various IT positions at several locations, including the Veterans Health Administration in Fort Riley, Kansas and Sam's Club in Atlanta, GA. He also worked in Iwakuini, Japan for almost a year.

Since the summer of 2019, Mesaie lived in Havelock, North Carolina and worked in nearby Cherry Point, until his sudden death on September 4, 2020. Mesaie was the best son, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle and friend anyone could wish for! His faith was strong and his commitment to those he loved unwavering. He was loving, caring, generous and funny. His mere presence, warm smile, quick humor and loud laughter lit up any room. He had a passion for cooking and auto mechanics. He loved good food, movies and all the good things in life. Above all, he loved his family and friends. Mesaie leaves behind his parents, Hirut and Admasse; his sister, Melat McDonald; his brother-in-law, Stevie McDonald; his two nephews, Roycelis Kebede (12) and Mekell McDonald (6); as well as many aunts , uncles and cousins. He will be missed beyond words! May God rest this soul in eternal peace and heal his family's broken hearts!
