Obituary for Mary "Liz" Michaels (Baird)

It is with great sorrow that the family of Mary"Liz" Michaels, age 96 of Canton, shares the passing of our mother, she died at her home.

She is preceded in death by her Husbands: Gabriel Carl Anselmo & Col. Harold Michaels; Parents: Henry Clay Baird & Bonnie Bentley Baird; Daughter: Mary Gabriella Frankel; Brothers: Robert Baird, Gordon Baird & Ralph Baird.

She is survived by, Daughter: Pamela Michaels; Five Grandchildren: Brad Frankel, Lindsey Currado, Gabe Frankel, Matt Frankel & Kinsley Cutler; Five Great Grandchildren: Gabby, Grayson, Cal, Cara & Avery.

"Liz" grew up in Jacksonville, Alabama and attended Jacksonville State University for one year before being recuited by Western Union where she worked for 36 years. This was where she met her first husband Gabriel. They were married May 1, 1948 and shortly there after Gabriel was stationed to Japan. Early summer of 1950, Liz left Japan to come back to the U.S. to await the birth of their first child , as Gabriel was going to Korea as war had started. On August 19th 1950 Gabriel was killed in action. Liz then made her home in Anniston, Alabama with her daughter, to be close to her family.

Liz was now working at Ft. McClellan in the telegraph office. This is where she met Harold "Mike" Michaels. They married on September 6, 1953 and than got stationed in France where she had her 2nd daughter Pamela.

Liz and Mike were married 28 years. The later years Liz loved to travel, with trips to Russia, Portugal, Italy and many other countries. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi for 71 years, she loved this organization and her "Sorority Sisters".

She love to help people, always very generous in every way.
