Laverne Cox Cantrell, age 86, of Atlanta, GA passed away Saturday, April 18, 2020 at Northside Hospital Gwinnette. She was a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was born in Canton, Georgia to parents, Fred Milton Cox and Annie Bell Day Cox. Laverne was a long-time member of North Druid Hills Christian Church and then Mount Carmel Christian Church. She held many positions ranging from bookkeeper to bank teller along with being a devoted wife and caretaker of her handicapped son, Greg. Laverne enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, cooking and reading. She was a strong but kind and caring woman who will be truly missed.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, on Tuesday, April 21, 2020, from the Cherokee Memorial Park with Rev. Art Stansberry officiating. Interment will follow at Cherokee Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM, Tuesday, April 21, 2020, at the South Canton Funeral Home.

1st Husband: Billy Burrell, In-Laws: Leslie "Bartow" Burrell and Lillie Burrell, Husband of 46 years: J. B. Cantrell, In-Laws: Robert and Ellen Cantrell, Son: Gregory Cantrell, Brothers: Bill Cox, Robert Cox and James W. Cox, Sister: Emma Lou Howell
