Lamar Rawson Brown
November 4,1959 – October 12,2022
Lamar Rawson Brown, 62, of Talking Rock, Georgia died on October 12, 2022, while in the CCU at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia.
Lamar was born in Barnesville, Georgia on November 4, 1959, to Elmore Haynes Brown, Jr. and Mary Christine Vaughn. He was one of four children.
Lamar was a 1979 graduate of F.T. Wills high school in Smyrna, Georgia, where he played football and was on the track team. After high school, Lamar joined the U.S. Navy, where he worked as an aviation structural mechanic, air crewman, and plane captain.
Following his tour in the Navy, Lamar lived in Norfolk, VA and worked at the Naval Air Rework Facility where he performed structural repairs of the A-6 Bomber and F-14 Tomcat aircraft. He later moved to Savannah, GA where he was employed by for Gulfstream Aircraft Company working on the Gulfstream 4 aircraft.
Lamar moved back to Marietta in 1994 and was a co-owner of a local commercial lawn maintenance company for over twenty years.
In 1997, Lamar and his wife, Chris, moved to Talking Rock, Georgia, as he loved the north Georgia mountains. He was an avid motorcyclist, and was an instructor for many years. Lamar also loved to hunt, fish, cook, and spend time with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Lamar is predeceased by his wife, Christene Daughbaugh, and brother, Drew Haynes Brown. He is survived by his sister Volesta Brown Autry, brother Louie Newton Dowis, Jr., nephew Jason Drew Brown, niece Lauren Nicole Spann, step nieces Lindsey Dantzler and Mychaela Dowis, and many great nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are provided by South Canton Funeral Home, 3147 Marietta Hwy, Canton, GA., where visitation and funeral services will be held on Monday, October 24, 2022, beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Greg Hamilton officiating. Committal Service will be at Georgia National Cemetery, 2025 Mount Carmel Church Lane, Canton, GA 30014 at 1:00 p.m.
