John E. Cater, age 81, of Canton, GA passed away Thursday, February 9, 2023.

John completed Officer Candidate School in Columbus, Georgia and marrying the love of his life, he served his country as a paratrooper and Army Platoon Leader in Vietnam.
After settling in Canton, he founded EDM Technologies, a leading machine tooling company in the southeast. He enjoyed coaching softball and driving his tractor, all while being the rock of his family. He was a true gentleman who was loved by all that met him. From hayrides to hosting his grandchildren's teammates for the holidays, he always made everyone feel welcome.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, on Sunday, February 12, 2023, from the South Canton Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Wheeler officiating. Interment will follow at Macedonia Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Saturday, February 11, 2023, and from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Sunday, February 12, 2023 at South Canton Funeral Home.
