Obituary for James G. Anderson
James G. Anderson, 84, of Rydal, GA (formerly Marietta, GA) passed away peacefully on Friday, July 10, 2020 at his residence following an extended illness.
James was born October 20, 1935 in Acworth, GA to the late Otis and Ada Anderson. He joined the U.S. Army 101st Airborne in August 1957 and was honorably discharged in August 1961. He owned and operated J Anderson Carpet Store in Marietta, GA for decades. James had a love of hard work and classic cars. He was preceded in death by wife Martha Howard Anderson and brother Willie Ray Anderson.
Surviving are his wife, Ann Weldon Anderson; Sons, Tez, Brent, and Randy (Lisa) Anderson; Stepdaughters, Vicki (Randy) Barnes and Laurie (Ken) Cannon; Grandchildren - Ashley (Tyler) Duncan, Jacob Anderson, and Emma Anderson; Step grandchildren - Ashley (Eric) Benitez, Lindsey (Stetson) Mealer, Matt (Jenna) Williams, Erica (Evan) Gossett; Great grandchildren - Landon Hunter, Colton Duncan, and Rhett Duncan; Step grandchildren - Mia Benitez, Mason Benitez, Eleanor Williams, Leo Williams, Gamble Mealer, and Briggs Mealer; Sister - Betty Jo Wilson
The family will receive family and friends from 2:00 to 4:00 at South Canton Funeral Home & Chapel, 3147 Marietta Hwy, Canton, GA 30114 on Tuesday, July 14, 2020. Service will follow in the chapel at 4:00 pm Tuesday, July 14, 2020. Reverend Richard Wilkins will officiate. Interment will be at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA at a later date.
