The Reverend Jack E. Carrier, age 91, of Canton, Georgia passed away Thursday, January 10, 2019 at his residence.

Rev. Carrier was born in Muskegon, Michigan to John E. Carrier and Carol Owen Carrier on March 2, 1927 and lived most of his childhood in Grand Junction, Michigan. At the young age of 17, he enlisted in the United State Army as a Medical Aidman at-tached to the USA Hospital Ships Republic and Comfort assigned to support medical officers in emergency treatment of wounded WWII soldiers.

During his meritorious service to our country, Rev. Carrier made a life-long commitment of faith in Christ attending Southeastern Bible College in May 1950 graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Pastoral Services. While at Southeastern, he met the love of his life, Mary Turner and they married in August of 1950. They were married for 69 years. Rev. Carrier was ordained as an Assemblies of God minister and together with Mary, they served as Assembly of God a ministers of the Gospel for 50 years at con-gregations in South Carolina and Michigan. Jack retired from active ministry in 1988 and lived his retirement years in Springfield, Missouri and Lakeland, Florida before making their final retirement home in Canton, Georgia.

Jack and Mary were blessed with three children, Blanche Carrier-Diemer (Gregory) Wisconsin, Jack W.L. Carrier (Terrie) Tennessee and Eric Carrier (Lisa) Georgia.
He was “Pa” to nine adoring grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

A war hero, faithful pastor, committed husband, beloved father and adored grandfather, Rev. Carrier lived by his often stated motto, “Only one life so soon it will pass; only what’s done for Christ will last.” His 50 years of faithful ministry earned him accolades and recognitions from the Assemblies of God and parishioners scattered throughout the United States.

Pastor Jack loved double pepperoni pizza, his wife Mary’s home cooking and strawber-ry sundaes. He was an avid Rook and Rummikub player and prolific garage saler. He was a founding member of “Jack’s Junk and Tom’s Trash” and loved to lay in the sun for hours upon hours. He wrote poetry and was an accomplished sculptor and inventor.

In his elder years, he was recognized by the local chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars for “exemplary service to humanity by administering emergency medical assis-tance.”

Jack’s parents, his brother’s William and Jim Carrier and his sister’s Carol “Tot” Roe and Jane Patricia preceded him in death. He is survived by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brother’s George (Gay) and Michael (Evie) Carrier and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:30 AM, on Friday, January 18, 2019, at the Chapel of South Canton Funeral Home, 3147 Marietta Hwy., Canton, GA 30114
with Rev. Thomas Trask, and Rev. Thomas Madden officiating. Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, January 17, 2019, and from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, Friday, January 18, 2019 at South Canton Funeral Home.
