Obituary for Herbert Walter Sullivan

Herbert W. Sullivan of Canton, GA, died June 3, 2011 at the age of 88. Born February 3, 1923 in Lawrence, MA. Son of the late Jerimiah J. & Helen L. (Yunggebauer) Sullivan. Survived by Abigail K. (Connor) Sullivan, wife of 64 years; sons, Michael W. Sullivan, the late Paul H. (Judith) Sullivan, Brian J. Sullivan; daughters, Alice H. (Robert) Farrell, Kathleen A. (Derek) Day; 6 Grandchildren, 5 Great- Grandchildren; sisters, Helen (Kenneth) Volk, Louise Love; brothers, Richard A. (Dorothy) Sullivan, the late Jeremiah J. Sullivan; numerous nieces and nephews. Dr. Sullivan was a graduate of Lawrence High School 1940, attended State Teacher’s College, Salem, MA 1940-1942, United States Army 1942-1946, Graduate of Boston University 1947, M Ed Boston University 1949, D Ed Hofstra University 1972, Hempstead, NY. Taught in Groveland, MA, Warwick, RI, Andover, MA, Huntington, NY, Herricks Long Island, NY. Retired in 1985 as Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction, Grand Island, NY. Past President of Western Zone NY State Retired Teachers Association, President Grand Island Teachers Credit Union, President Samaritan Pastoral Council, Buffalo, NY. An active member of the Roman Catholic Church. Visitation will be Monday, June 6, 2011, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at South Canton Funeral Home, 3147 Marietta Hwy., Canton, GA 30114 (770) 479-3377. Mass of Resurrection will be held 11:00a.m., Tuesday, June 7th at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 490 Arnold Mill Rd., Woodstock, GA 30188. Interment in Georgia National Cemetery, Canton. GA.
