Obituary for Gay Silver (Young)

Gay Silver, age 75, of Canton, GA passed away Monday, November 26, 2018 at Hidden Lakes Assisted Living Facility. She was a loving mother, MeMe, Aunt, Cousin and friend to everyone she met.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, on Thursday, November 29, 2018, from the Chapel of South Canton Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Wheeler officiating. Interment will follow at Cherokee Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Tuesday, November 27, 2018, and from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at South Canton Funeral Home.

She was preceded in death by, Parents: Oscar Mae and O'Neil Young

Survivors include:
Daughter - Daina (Mike) Holland
Son - Cary (Elizabeth) Silver
Sister - Judy Debord
Sister - Brenda (Jim) Philyaw
Brother - J. H. (Joan) Young
Grand Daughter - Michaela Holland
Grand Daughter - Rylee Holland
Grand Son - Landon Silver
Grand Daughter - Lauren Silver
Several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and other Family and Friends also survive.

I am heartbroken at the news of Miss Gay’s passing. I was one of her CNAs at Waterford. When we met, I had just moved to Georgia from Ohio and missed my family very much. Gay knew this and told me she would be my “Georgia Mama”. From that day on, she always greeted me with a hug and kiss and treated me like a part of her family. She never failed to speak kind words of encouragement to me. I love her dearly. My deepest sympathies to her family. She loved you more than anything.

My mom Edna Hall called me to tell me the news. I always loved talking with Gay at Hidden Lakes. She had become a close friend to my mother and sat in her room talking with us many times.
