Obituary for Elizabeth Cook (Barnes)

Elizabeth Cook, age 71, of Waleska, died Saturday, May 1, 2010, at Northside Hospital Cherokee. She retired from the Cherokee County Sheriff's Department and had previously worked for Kessler's for 30 years. She was a Girl Scout Leader and a member of Sardis Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 2, 2010, from the Chapel of South Canton Funeral home with Pastor Zane Abbott and Rev. Ken Parker officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Methodist Church Cemetery in Waleska. She was preceded in death by her parents Verlin and Ina Barnes and her brother, Edward Barnes. Survivors include daughters, Sharon (George) Hillhouse, Canton, Leigh Ann (Gary) Cox, Kanas City, MO; sister, Dorothy Underwood, Canton; grandchildren, Beth Hillhouse & Fiance Jared Summey, George Hillhouse, Jr., Melinda Hillhouse, Cadence Cox and Courtney Cox. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. on Saturday until the funeral hour on Sunday.
