Obituary for David Bruce Matson

David Bruce Matson

June 13, 1943 – February 15, 2021

David B Matson, 77, of Waleska, Georgia, passed away February 15, 2021 due to complications from COVID-19. David was a U. S. Navy Veteran. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

David was born in Hobart, Oklahoma on June 13, 1943. After serving his country in the U.S. Navy, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia. He married Gayle Shores on October 21, 1967. Prior to his retirement, he spent most of his career as a purchasing manager in the plumbing supply industry. David had many hobbies and interests: he was a Nascar fan and avid gun collector, he enjoyed traveling with his wife and family, playing golf, and attending plays and operas. David was happiest when surrounded by his family. He had a sharp sense of humor. David was proud of his family. As a father to three daughters, he carried a philosophy that women could do anything men could do - and do it better. He taught this philosophy to his daughters who always strived to make him proud.

David was a loving husband, caring father and doting grandfather. David is survived by his spouse of 53 years, Gayle Shores Matson; his children, Nancy Bishop (Steve), Marcia McInnis (Paul), and Amanda Gambill (Art); and his grandchildren, David Sweeney, Christina Sweeney, Steven Bishop, Michael McInnis, and Aiden Gambill.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date, most likely in June.

In Lieu of flowers the family would like donations made to The Aurora Theatre:
