Obituary for Damon Gensel

Born in Cobb Co., GA on Mar. 16, 1966

Damon Gensel, age 43, of Canton, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2009 at Northside Hospital. He was a native of Cobb County and a graduate of North Cobb High School. He was in the Naval Reserves, a member of Wildwood Baptist Church and a member of the Cobb Co. Fire Dept. for the past 17 years.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 17, 2009 at Wildwood Baptist Church, 4801 Wade Green Rd., NW, Acworth, GA, with the family receiving friends from 12 until 2 pm at the church. Rev. David Carl, Rev. Terry Huey and Deacon John Hester will be officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Ridge Memorial Park.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Chelsea Gensel and his mother, Linda Gensel. Survivors include wife, Diahan Gensel, Canton; son, Brandon Gensel, Canton; daughter, Kaleigh Gensel, Canton; father and his wife, Richard & Susan Gensel, Ellijay; sister & brother-in-law, Grace & Alan Meuse, Canton; stepbrother & stepsister-in-law, Don & Mary Gill, Woodstock; stepsister, Jennifer Gill, Ball Ground; mother & father-in-law, Brenda & Rell Kitchen, Waleska; sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Denise & Phillip Burress, Fortson, GA; several nieces & nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Cobb County Fire Benevolent Fund, 1595 County Service Pkwy., Marietta, GA 30008.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1 until 3 pm and 6 until 9 pm at South Canton Funeral Home & Chapel, 3147 Marietta Hwy., Canton, GA 30114 (770) 479-3377.
