Obituary for Blanche Lanham (Bobbie Harmon)

Blanche Harmon (Bobbie) Lanham, otherwise known as Nanny Bobbie, passed away at the Canton Nursing Center on December 2, 2013.

She was born on May 11, 1917 to William Cecil and Falby Garrison Harmon in the Salacoa Valley, Cherokee County, Ga.. She lived in the Canton area until the age of 19 when she moved to Cartersville, Ga. to live with her married sister who worked at the Goodyear Mill in Atco. She met her husband, Fred Lanham, there and they married in 1937 and they were married 54 years at his death in 1991. During WWII they lived on Carolina Beach and Savannah, GA. where Fred worked in the shipyards building and repairing ships. After the war they then returned to Canton, making it their home for the remainder of their lives. Nanny Bobbie worked for many years in Rosenblum's store in Canton and then operated her own small store called Bobbie's Den for a few years before retirement.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Willie, Lawrence and Brady Harmon, sisters Constance Porter, Gladys Pruitt, Ruth Cloud, Jack Stancil, Bill Adams and Cece Buice as well as husband Fred Lanham, infant daughter Nancy Jo Lanham, adult son Johnny Lanham, adult grandson Chris Lanham.

She is survived by one daughter and son in law, Kathy and Leonard Dunn, grandsons, Shane (Mollie) Dunn and Trent (Tiffany) Dunn, great grandchildren Walker, Chandler, Cambelle, Delaney and Seth Dunn, daughter in law, Lynda Lanham and special neice Darlene Cagle.

Visitation will be at South Canton Funeral Home on December 3rd from 5 PM until 10 Pm and from 10 AM until 1 PM the day of the funeral. The funeral willbe held at Indain Knoll Church on December 4th at 2:00 PM with Reverend Ken Parker and burial will be in the church cemetery.
