Obituary for Barbara Ghorley Jones
Barbara Ghorley Jones, age 71, of Canton, GA passed away Friday, September 30, 2022 at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.
If you look at her life on paper, you will see Barbara has been a life time resident of Cherokee County, mostly, in and around Canton. She grew up with two sisters. She married and had three biological children and one chosen daughter. She has 5 grandchildren. She was a hard worker, doing various types of jobs to support her family and went on to become a successful business owner. That is what you see "on paper". Yet her life was so much more!
On paper, she only has two sisters, but I can't begin counting the number people over the years who have come to consider her a sister because they have created a bond that strong.
On paper, she has 4 children, yet I can't begin to tell you how many people refer to her as "mama" because they have so much love and respect for her. She has those 5 beautiful grandchildren, as well as a bonus one or two, that are her pride and joy.
She took a small work from home opportunity and turned it into a profitable business. To some this may not sound like a big deal, but, this business started in her living room with just her and her daughter, while they took care of her mother. Over the years, some people who knew and worked with her have come and gone but some became family. This is because, once you get to know Barbara, you realize what a truly wonderful person she is. The spark in her personality, the understanding in her voice, the generousity in her soul and most all, the love and compassion in her heart simply cannot be described by words.
Although her physical being is no longer with us, we refuse to refer to her in past tense because the joy, the laughter, the memories and most of all, the unconditional love she added to our lives will live on forever. We will always look to the clouds and smile, knowing how blessed we are to have been a small part of her world.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, from the South Canton Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby McFarland, and Rev. Nathan Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Sunday, October 2, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Monday, October 3, 2022, and Tuesday, October 4, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at South Canton Funeral Home.
She was preceded in death by, Parents - Grady & Grace Ghorley; Husband - Jerry Jones; Son - Larry Jones.
